Case Study Lab
The Socially Responsible Computing Handbook is a collaborative effort between the SRC program and CNTR to monitor and gather interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder content on the rapidly changing landscape of socially responsible computing and to synthesize that content into educational, digestible primers and curated lists of resources.
About the lab
The SRC Handbook Case Study Lab is a semester-long program that trains undergraduates to write case studies analyzing real-word use cases that illustrate concepts of socially responsible computing. Participants will create case studies for a forth-coming SRC Library to be used by SRC teaching assistants.
Skill development
Students will learn research methods and writing practices while gaining a broader understanding of socially responsible computing concepts. The Case Study Lab also prepares students for paid and course credit positions on other CNTR projects as well as other research positions across Brown.
Eligibility
The Case Study Lab is currently open to all undergraduate students from Brown University across any concentration or discipline. The first cohort will accept approximately 20 participants.
Commitment
Selected students will write a maximum of 5 case studies during the fall semester with an expected weekly time commitment of less than 4 hours. This will include online training sessions and networking opportunities.
Applications for the inaugural Fall 2026 cohort will open in late summer. Stay tuned.
