Over the past year, more than 400 AI-related bills have been introduced across the United States. Yet most analyses of this legislative activity remain descriptive rather than evaluative. To address this gap, CNTR developed the CNTR AISLE Framework — a structured tool that assesses the maturity and policy rigor of AI legislative proposals across multiple governance dimensions, including accountability, privacy, bias, transparency, and more.

The CNTR AISLE Undergraduate Legislation Lab is a semester-long experiential program where students are trained to evaluate federal and state AI legislation.

This experience offers the opportunity to:

  • Engage directly with cutting-edge AI legislation shaping U.S. policy;
  • Contribute to the development of a national dataset of AI regulatory trends;
  • Gain recognition in CNTR’s upcoming AI Legislative Landscape Report; and
  • Collaborate with peers and CNTR researchers working at the intersection of law, policy, and technology.

Participation can align with research or clinical credit requirements at your institution, and all contributors will receive recognition from CNTR.

The Spring 2026 Cohort is currently running and we're taking last minute applicants until February 1st.  Reach out to cntr-aisle@brown.edu for more information.

Advanced Scorers

We’re now seeking volunteer advanced scorers — law students, policy fellows, and graduate researchers — to apply the framework and help us refine its methodology.  Advanced Scorers will not be bound by a cohort and can join at any time.  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and a member of our team will contact you as soon as possible.

Please feel free to apply here or  reach out if you have any questions about the application process or the responsibilities entailed.
