CNTR Career Atlas
Career advice is often presented as a linear pathway:
choose a major → obtain a degree → enter a related profession
In reality, most careers are shaped by a complex and nuanced combination of experiences, interests, opportunities, relationships, skills, and unexpected pivots. This project will develop a prototype platform that helps students explore real-world career pathways at the intersection of technology and society.
The “CNTR Career Atlas” will reveal the many routes people take toward meaningful and successful careers at the intersection of technology and society. It turns career history from a flat, text-based document into a narrative, storytelling, visual system.
Project Goals
- Develop a system that converts resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and user-provided information into structured data related to career pathways of professionals at the intersection of tech and society.
- Generate visual representations of career journeys, including roles, skills, education, projects, and major transition points.
- Create an anonymized pathway library that allows students to explore real-world career trajectories across disciplines and industries.
- Help professionals identify themes, patterns, and turning points in their own careers.
Prototype Features
- Skills evolution map: showing how skills appeared, strengthened, or faded over time
- CNTR Values evolution: identifying recurring CNTR Values across roles
- Detours: moments where professionals changed industries, roles, identities, directions
- Pathway/Route locator
